Mental Illness(Draft)
Mental illness has been a problem from the start. Why in the world would Eve
listen to a snake, and do something God had said not to do? Complacency
with how good things always seemed to go. Taking for granted they had no
kids to raise, and being fully human they probably made love in the garden
with great regularity.  Then she talked Adam into doing something God had
told them not to, and their eyes were opened, they had children and worked
hard. Teaching the children the things God had said when they lived in Eden.
Their children passed them down to us.
I think injustice has a mental health angle we can use, to heal justice and
leave peace. With all the teams of programmers and engineers enabling our
information age, I ask, “What is the holdup on getting some importance
attended to, human living environmental engineering?” Reconstructing a
whole life after many scary experiences, is daunting. Picking up the pieces
after a series of poor decisions based on dilution, takes a lot of
determination. Finding something productive and fun, after a bout with
depression, could seem impossible. Keeping track of your past, after finally
getting multiple personalities unified, sounds like a nightmare.  Keeping
compulsions at bay is tough, when it just seems like second nature to ck the
lock twice. Filling a life with people and hope is hard, when drugs, alcohol and
gambling, get to kids so early and easily. Time with the family can be hard to
come by, when employers demand profit at all costs. Planning a fulfilling
career is almost unheard of, when you have the intelligence of a ten year old.
Being hungry can be comforting, where thin is in. It is a hard to be hopeful,
sensitive, idealistic, or inquisitive in a world overwhelmed with injustice.
The primary victim suffers from “Injustice”. We all know people suffering
injustice can have any number of symptoms, secondary complications and
reasons to stay in the unjust system.  Those suffering injustice are usually
preempted from seeking relief, by the victims of “Injustice Euphoria”.
Injustice Euphoria has the person believing they will be better off at the
expense of another’s happiness. IE can be as evil as arranging murders or as
common place as paying as little as possible. IE perpetrators need restraint,
love and correction. Being responsible for another’s unhappiness bears down
on the IE perpetrator. heart, and can lead to a very hard heart. Hard hearted
IE perpetrators. have been known to rationalize almost anything required, to
maintain and raise their comfort level. Focusing on comfort and nervously
maintaining an unjust system increases the need for outside symbols of
prospering. IE can bring on a clouded view of reality, causing the perpetrator
to make poor decisions and get caught. The treatment for injustice euphoria
is to repent and work for a just world, as hard as the unjust world was formerly
encouraged. This will help alleviate the suffering of those with “Injustice
Miopathy”.
Injustice Miopathy strikes when the knowledge of injustice and an inability to
do anything about it, combine with a strong inner need to help, overwhelm the
brain, leading to many symptoms. The treatment, is making the world more
just, with friends and a smile. Being productive in a humble hero sort of way,
is what Jesus is all about. Caring for the sick, loving your neighbor, “On Earth
as it is in Heaven.” Most all religions teach toward a loving world, we are hard
wired to be grateful. Living in gratitude means, it’s is all a gift to be shared.
The first words you learn when visiting a different nation is, “Thank You.”

Long Lost Buddies

Whatever happened to the old friends of my childhood years.  How can we
help them and how can they help us.  We knew them well.  It would be simple,
I think, to figure out if they still have the qualities we liked when we were
young.  All the nick names, Reet, Wheat Germ, Bail, Pain, Maggo, Small but
mighty, Maker, Duke.  We were going to take motorcycles around the country
fighting communism and corruption, sharing what we had and living the
dream.  When I left town at 17, Germ was just getting into heroin; Bail and
Reet had already been to jail for drunk and disorderly.  Pain was getting back
to high school without our support.  Maggo got into pot and alcohol with a
vengeance and ruined our friendship because he smoked all the weed I
fronted him to sell for me.  Me, I was getting into fights and using whatever
drug was around.  I was BruBruBruce and I could work (good fighter).
Rushville was their refuge.  A small barn, Beer, Steaks and crackers is what
they eat.  Free rent and it was a winter survival spot.  Fortunately I went to
Minnesota before I had to go on out to Rushville.  I'm the only one from that
group who didn't do prison time.
They were men of integrity but just too wounded to do much more than run the
streets thinking they had it made.  As buddies they would give it all to me to
get me high or hold back others to insure a "fair fight".  We had some chivalry,
honor, and values -- some honor amongst criminals.  We loved America,
freedom and free speech....we would have jumped at the opportunity to serve
in WW2.
Their out there somewhere and maybe someday I'll look them up and together
we can make a difference.
